Edward M. Haraburda, Ph.D., DBSM - Clinical Psychologist
In addition to being the only board-certified behavioral sleep medicine provider in central Ohio, Dr. Haraburda worked for over 20 years as a psychologist with the Department of Veterans Affairs helping individuals who were experiencing PTSD, anxiety and depression as well as sleep issues and over 10 years experience in his private practice, Psychological Sleep Services.
* Although new clients are regularly taken on due to individuals successfully completing treatment for sleep and other issues such as PTSD and depression, the rate at which people reach out to this practice exceeds the capacity of this practice. As a result, the waitlist model has been discontinued and individuals will be contacted to start treatment based mainly on clinical urgency. To find out more about this please call Dr. Haraburda and he will email you more information on this as well as some helpful resources related to sleep treatment.*
If you leave a voicemail message, it is essential that you leave an email address - this allows Dr. Haraburda to use a HIPPA-compliant form of secure messaging to communicate with you.
In addition to being able to see clients in-person and virtually in Ohio, Psychological Sleep Services is able to provide treatment virtually to clients in 40 additional states - see below.
Since 2012, Psychological Sleep Services has been offering people in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding communities a highly effective treatment for insomnia that doesn't involve medication, as well as quality evidence-based care for a wide range of other psychological concerns . The approach I use to treat insomnia is called cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia, or CBT-I for short - it has been supported by research for years and was endorsed in May 2016 as the treatment of choice for adults with chronic insomnia by the American College of Physicians. As a Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM), the only one in central Ohio, Dr. Haraburda has received extensive training in treating insomnia and a range of other sleep disorders - click here for more information on this board certification.
We all deserve good quality sleep and a satisfying life. Even when life is going well overall, there can be many struggles, conflicting priorities and emotional demands along the way. Many people seek assistance after years of wishing aspects of their lives were different. Rather than feeling bad over the "need" to get help from a professional, you could feel excited about the possibility of combining the expertise of a behavioral health professional together with your existing strengths to begin building a better life. I am a licensed psychologist with close to 25 years of experience helping clients address a wide range of concerns in order to lead more satisfying lives. After identifying what you wish to focus on, we will work together on goals of your choosing. To get started, you can call or email me. I look forward to meeting you!
Overview of What I Do
I work with adults using individual therapy. I use a range of treatments that have a large body of research showing that the treatment tends to result in meaningful positive changes. I have expertise in behavioral sleep medicine as well as acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I also utilize prolonged exposure therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and mindfulness. While the length of treatment varies depending on your goals and issues, it is by no means an endless process. My goal is to support you in achieving your goals as soon as possible. While I value and enjoy working with my clients, I also look forward to when they tell me that they are now satisfied with how their lives are going and are ready to bring treatment to a close.
Helpful App
CBT-I Coach - The app is for Veterans, Servicemembers, and others who have difficulty sleeping and are engaged in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) with a clinical provider. Although the app can be used on its own, it is not intended to be a substitute for those who need therapy.
